Jill Logan

I started off working in the private sector and then set up a Heating & Air Conditioning Maintenance Company with a colleague based in Salford in 1984 by 1996, we had offices in Scotland, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and London with a team of staff. During that time, I moved from Admin & Finance Director to Quality and Admin Director and successfully achieved BS5750.

In 1996, I Ieft the company and embarked on a teaching qualification for higher education and was an Assessor for NVQ Business Administration, then went onto be a Part time Lecturer at Bury College teaching GNVQ Business Studies, IT and Management courses. I collaborated in developing a management course on Logistics for Bury College in partnership with University of Huddersfield.

I entered the Voluntary Sector when, in 1999, The Mosses Community Centre became a registered charity and worked with the then Chief Officer and Board to develop the Charity and Centre into an Ofsted Registered Pre-School with an Outstanding rating and a vibrant, local community centre.

In 2010 I joined Bury Society for Blind & Partially Sighted People as Chief Executive Officer. The Society was awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2014 and provides a complete support pathway for local people living with sight loss in Bury and surround. Representing the Society, I attend the Greater Manchester VI Forum which includes RNIB, Guide Dogs, Henshaws, Thomas Pocklington and Walthew House. In addition, on behalf of the GM VI Forum, I am their representative at the GM Local Eye Health Network.
