Bury Council’s Cabinet has approved the proposed budget 2025/26 for public consultation. The public consultation will run from Monday 11 November to Monday 23 December and this your opportunity both as residents and local VCSE organisations to have your say on the recommendations and how savings can be made within the council.
There is a budget gap of £35m for the three years up to 2028, although potential savings of £9.4m have already been identified. These measures will help to reduce the remaining gap to more than £22m – with the majority of that needing to be found in the first year.
Residents will be asked their views on a range of questions including:
- The councils budget setting principles
- Specific saving proposals including the approach to council tax
- Additional consultation questions around proposed car parking charging and streetlight dimming
- The opportunity to share your ideas for future savings as well as the potential impact the proposed changes will have on you or your organisations.
Budget changes can have a range of impact to local groups and organisations either directly or via the lives of the residents they support. To find out more and to complete the survey visit – www.bury.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/budgets-and-spending/budget-consultation-20252026
