Bolton Rd Methodist Church Bolton Rd Community Pantry The Pantry aims to support struggling local households by providing food, toiletries, clothing, and household items, along with children’s lunch packs during school holidays and additional help for families expecting babies. FGRS Community Pantry Over 40 families regularly access our pantry, many of whom struggle to prepare meals on a budget. To help, we’ve partnered with a chef to create easy recipe cards using pantry items, which will be distributed alongside cooking utensils, while our children’s group will expand to include growing herbs and vegetables, promoting healthy eating and engagement through fun activities. The Bury Project Expanding the Bury Project – employing a second trainee debt coach To meet the increasing demand for our debt support services, we plan to recruit a second trainee debt coach, using this funding to cover employment costs. Greater Manchester Neshomo CIO Social Prescribing Support Project We support individuals with serious mental health issues by helping them engage in hobbies and learn new skills to improve their mental and physical well-being and reduce social isolation. St Andrew’s Community Hub St Andrew’s Food Pantry Since 2017, our food pantry has operated on donations and a voluntary £3 weekly charge, but recent declines in donations and increased demand have led to empty shelves and a waiting list of over 10 people. We propose to purchase reserve stocks of essential items to ensure a consistent supply for our clients while continuing to collaborate with partners to address the root causes of hunger. Friends of Clarence Park Winter Warm Hub 2024 We plan to operate a community warm hub on Sundays from December to February, staffed entirely by volunteers, offering a warm space with hot drinks and light meals. The Attic Project Community Drop In We will offer weekly community drop-in sessions during the winter months, providing a warm space for anyone to enjoy hot drinks, snacks, and friendly conversation. A specialist welfare support worker will be available to assist vulnerable individuals, and we will encourage local pensioners to attend to check their eligibility for Pension Credit and other benefits, addressing concerns about heating and eating this winter. Sunflower Manchester English Speaking Club with Employment Elements for Ukrainians We are organizing an English-speaking club for Ukrainians, offering classes on Fridays and Saturdays over three months, with each session lasting two hours. The lessons will focus on practical English skills related to employment, such as writing CVs, improving interview techniques, and navigating job search platforms, while providing access to local services and support, with an interpreter available for assistance. Heaton Park Methodist Church Heaton Park Food Pantry & Holiday Lunch Club The Food Pantry offers a discounted top-up shop for those facing financial difficulties, along with a pay-as-you-can café that hosts craft and discussion activities in a Warm Space. During school holidays, we also run a Holiday Lunch Club for families who typically receive free school meals, all aimed at addressing food poverty and loneliness in the Prestwich community. Community food poverty and well being project Our project aims to support local residents in Bury facing poverty by providing essential food and access to health and well-being activities, including gym memberships and sports equipment for young people. New Springs Community Project Group New Springs Warm Spaces We will use the funding to continue and expand our “Warm Spaces” project, which has provided a weekly community drop-in session for the past two years, offering complimentary tea, coffee, and hot meals.
