The Greater Manchester (GM) Race Equality Panel invites the public to attend Culture, Care & Connection: Reclaiming Mental Wellbeing Together, a free workshop exploring culturally appropriate mental health support. The event will take place on Wednesday 14 May, from 9.30am to 12pm at the St Thomas Centre, Ardwick, Manchester (M12 6FZ).
Co-designed with partners including GMCA, NHS GM, the African Caribbean Mental Health Service, Wai Yin, Fikawelie, Yarran, and Diversity Matters, the workshop is part of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2025. It will highlight how community-based and culturally tailored approaches to mental wellbeing can tackle persistent health inequalities.
The Race Equality Panel, established in 2020, plays a vital role in advising and challenging GM’s political leaders to address discrimination and injustice. One of its key priorities is to improve access to mental health services that reflect the needs and experiences of diverse communities.
The workshop aims to open conversations about the challenges in current service provision and explore how communities, providers, and leaders can work together to create lasting change.
