The Ramsbottom Coop Hall Heritage Trust, a charitable Community Benefit Society, is on a mission to purchase and restore the iconic Ramsbottom Co-op Hall, bringing it back into use for the benefit of the local community.
In 2024, Bury Council secured funding from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, delivered through the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, to support arts, culture and heritage projects across the borough. This was made available to local VCSE groups through the Bury Culture Fund, offering grants of up to £10,000. The programme, responding to Bury’s cultural strategy “Different Cultures, Same Horizons”, was delivered and managed by Bury VCFA.
With help from Bury VCFA’s grants team—including Meet the Funder events and application support—the group successfully secured funding to deliver the Ramsbottom Come Together Festival, a vibrant one-day celebration of music and the arts in September 2024.
Highlights from the project include:
- A large festival made up of 41 separate activities, featuring local musicians, bands, businesses, and volunteers
- 26 volunteer roles created through the event
- Over 275 attendees took part, raising awareness of the Hall and the campaign to save it
- A public pledge campaign was launched on the day, securing 30 pledges totalling £27,000 towards restoring the Hall
The event was a powerful celebration of community, culture and local heritage – shining a spotlight on Ramsbottom Co-op Hall!
