Radcliffe Juniors Football Club (JFC) are a football club based at Red Bank Playing Field in Radcliffe who offer football coaching for under 18’s across 53 teams. They have recently completed work installing their 3G pitch and new clubhouse. Neil, the team manager for Radcliffe JFC Under 10’s Ballers team approached Bury VCFA for support with funding for new kit and equipment.

Katherine our Capacity Building Development Officer, met with Neil and club Chair, Lee at Red Bank Playing Field in April 2025. Neil shared that his team, Radcliffe JFC Under 10’s Ballers, were in need of new kit, while Lee highlighted the club’s requirement for a defibrillator to equip their new building. Katherine went through some funding options including social value investment, funding grants and fundraising opportunities in the local community.

Following the initial meeting, Katherine introduced the club to Leanne at Great Places Housing who was able to arrange a donation of a defibrillator through their social value scheme. This was installed in June 2025 by Great Places building safety partner, Holistic Fire Safety. Having a defibrillator on-site at Radcliffe JFC will increase the safety and well-being of everyone involved with the club. The defibrillator will also benefit the surrounding community as the club grounds are regularly used by families, schools, and community groups.

Katherine also introduced Neil to the local supermarket community champions for support with fundraising. Neil worked with Wendy at Tesco Bury to organise an in -store fundraising day for his team to raise funds to cover their new kit. This fundraising day took place on 6th July 2025 where members of the Under 10’s Ballers team took part in bag packing. They also had a tombola which sold out within an hour. At this event, the club raised £519.90 which will be going towards essential winter coats, equipment and resources for the Under 10’s Ballers team. In addition to engaging with the public to boost awareness of the club’s positive role in the area

Bury VCFA will continue to support Radcliffe JFC with applying for funding to support their teams.

We are incredibly grateful to Katherine, Bury VCFA, Tesco Bury, and the Great Places Scheme for their ongoing support. Together, they’ve helped us go beyond sport, building stronger, safer connections across Radcliffe. We look forward to growing these relationships and continuing to make a difference in our community.”
