Bury Faith Forum response to attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester

 02 October 2025

On behalf of the members of the Bury Faith Forum, we are appalled at the dreadful attack on the Jewish Community at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.

We stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters, united by our common humanity and as a community of faith, praying for those who have been killed, injured or traumatised by these events. We utterly condemn any act of violence against any community of faith and we pray for peace, safety and security for all in our community.

As a community of faith, we call on all people of faith and none to support our Jewish brothers and sisters in these very difficult times.

We believe that the dreadful actions that we have witnessed reinforce the need for all people of faith to come together to build up community cohesion and we welcome the efforts led by Bury Council to promote this.
